Isla Mujeres is an island just 13 km off the coast of Cancun. It has beautiful beaches and cliffs, perfect places to snorkel for free, offers a lot of nightlife and also historical points and Mayan ruins. All this makes it a perfect day trip from Cancun, although if you have more time, we recommend staying at least one or two nights and exploring the island more fully. How to get to Isla Mujeres?

There are different maritime terminals that can take you to the Island from Cancun, however, the most used option is the Ultramar company. That schedule ferries to Isla Mujeres from Cancun and some from Playa del Carmen. The Ultra Mar terminals are located in the Hotel Zone and in Puerto Juarez.

Be sure to get back to Cancun before the 7:00 pm, because that’s the last ferry to Cancun.

Riding a motorcycle around the island

One of the best experiences I have had in Isla Mujeres has been renting a motorcycle to be able to ride around the entire island. The best part of this tour is touring the cliffs of the island in the eastern part. We recommend you start this tour by heading south to the east and going around the island, it will be a natural spectacle that you will never forget. On your journey, you will arrive at Punta Sur. If you come in a family, you could rent a golf cart for more space.

Punta Sur (South Point)

In Punta Sur, you will find a sculpture park with an impressive view of the sea. If you had already been excited about the small cliffs, this walkthrough of Punta Sur will be more pleasant for you since you can go down and get closer to the coast and find wonderful scenes.

Beach Club

After exploring the island, its markets, its magnificent landscapes, and its people. You can go to relax at any beach club in the north of the island. Better known as Playa Norte. The best beach in Mexico according to TripAdvisor. Here you can find different beach clubs where you can order some interesting drinks or eat something.
